The Coastal Road : Loosening of rocks seen from the cliff

4 mars 2016

The operation to loosen rocks last Thursday 3rd March did not make it possible to completely remove the 2 dangerous “large columns”.

The 2 large columns shattered under the pressure of the pneumatic cushions, forcing the workers to repeat the operation several times.

Around 50% of the first column and 25% of the other one were eliminated. As a result, the work will continue today. It is too soon to give a date for the road being reopened.

The area behind the gabions needs to be cleared, as well as the nets, now full of blocks. Before the road can be partially reopened, the gabion wall will need to be repaired.
